Ok, so, I just got AT&T's New fiber optic tv, internet package installed... first of all, it's really good... I like it a lot, however I only have one box. now, I know with previous companies If I had cable at my house I would be able to get basic cable in every room, but if I wanted all the extra channels I had to pay for a box. Uverse seems to be a little different as it is fiber optic to the curve and then it taps in to the existing copper wiring into my house. and goes to the phone jack. AT&T then uses some weird strange device (dsl filter maybe?) to send it to the box to then send it to my tv... My question is, if I have a phone jack in other rooms in the house, shoudl I be able to use another one of thsoe weird filter things to hook into my tv?

any ideas? I would rather not pay an extra 7 dollars per television in my house since I have 6 extra tvs in my house.....

Given enough coax cable, duct tape, and pants that show off your butt crack, you can do anything with cable.

But I just did a Google search and didn't turn up anything...

I'm not aware of a way to use one box for multiple TVs independently, but I have U-verse as well.

The "fiber to the curb" thing is actually a lie. They do fiber to the local loop, and they use a single twisted pair to your house from there. It can be up to >2km away, on a single twisted pair of copper... usually cat 3 (if you're lucky). From there they run it through some more gear at your house and convert it to coax, then feed into your internal wiring from there.

It's actually amazing that they can pull so much bandwidth from a single pair... but it's nowhere near what fiber can do

I'm wondering if finding another "set top box" and using it in another room would work.

Have you asked AT&T? I think we pay per-box, but it's not that much for additional TVs. We have coax in the house, though.

well, I work for att...just in a completely different part of the company. I know very little about the wired services of att...I kinda cant ask questions like that cause it makes me look shady.... att plays dumb and says it wont work. and yea, it's not much for 1 tv... but when you have 7 total tvs in your house it kinda adds up....

Oh. I imagined some large house with a huge TV in each room, figured it'd pay for my flight over there if I stole seven 52" TV's.

If im not mistaken PA youll have to have a box on each tv as the way its coded. Uverse is not a standard cable hook up and works more like satelite than cable. My friend has Uverse and its nice but ill stick with cable. Probably because i work for the local cable company though :-)
